Established in 1977, Cambridge Marketing combines decades of experience with creative innovation to deliver profit-driven results for our clients.
Cambridge Marketing crept into existence in 1977 and became a limited company in 1980. We fondly recall the arrival in 1983 of our first Apple Mac system, acquired for an eye-watering sum well in excess of £10000 – the A4 black and white printer alone was £3200 and the output was barely legible
The shrewd purchase of a fax cost a similar sum although it was of limited use until some clients and suppliers bought one too. We gawped at the tiny screen of the Mac and after several months realised that the software available at that time was simply below par, and the design of an A4 newsletter principally in Palatine Bold Outline Shadow soon lost its appeal.
It seemed a triumph when we sent our first floppy disc for output and duly received a glossy print-out courtesy of a motorbike courier, all at vast expense. The advent of Quark Xpress, Photoshop and PDFs made life so much easier.
Back then the term ‘marketing’ was in its infancy and there was a degree of uncertainty about its meaning; it sat alongside ‘sales’ and ‘advertising’. From the inception we have always regarded these terms as synonymous and everything we did, and continue to do, was aimed at creating profit for our clients.
The essence is to create ‘a good idea’, a combination of inspired graphics and pithy words, backed by attention to detail and infinite patience. We continually strive for innovative solutions that drive results, ensuring that our clients benefit from our marketing expertise and creative approach.
